THE COLUMN: Heisenberg's Revenge

The day the climate broke bad.

In honor of the widening fronts in the war against "climate change," the-Pipeline.org takes pride to announce that the remainder of this month will be devoted to further analysis and refutation of this malicious hoax, which feeds off irrational fear in order to impose severe lifestyle restrictions on the people of the West -- who, after all, created the technology that has made our current prosperity possible. Such prosperity, however, is intolerable to the philosophical and lineal descendants of the Frankfurt School, who have made it their mission since the end of World War II to dismantle the Greco-Roman/Judeo-Christian first world and force the rest of the planet to return to to ignorance, superstition, and savagery.

Having failed to destroy us with the Covid Hoax (even the loathsome Facebook nazis have given up on it), the Left has now moved "climate change" front and center as the international left's preferred soul-sapping means of destruction. Based on the small (in the cosmic scheme of things), 140-year-old sample of randomly gathered temperature data, jealous and vengeful cultural Marxists have decided to extrapolate from cherry-picked, manipulated, and massaged data to convince a gullible and trusting public that the world is coming to an end any day now, unless we act now. Like sleazy used-care salesman, they employ scare and pressure tactics in order to get you to work against your own best, self-preservative instincts and willingly destroy infrastructure, cripple food production, kill sea life, and incinerate forests.

Have I got a deal for you. Hurry!

The key to their successful sowing of confusion can be found in the Heisenberg Principle, which states: "we cannot know both the position and speed of a particle, such as a photon or electron, with perfect accuracy; the more we nail down the particle's position, the less we know about its speed and vice versa." In popular understanding, this terms of physics is expressed thus: the act of observing a thing changes its behavior and the closer it is observe, the more its nature becomes unclear. Or, if you stare at the word "cat" long enough, you can convince yourself that "cat" is misspelled.

The same is true of the "science" of "climate change." No one from the ancient Greeks to the mid-Victorians would have seriously entertained the notion of "man-made climate change" were it not for the relatively recent invention of rudimentary means of measuring temperature and forecasting the weather. Armed with this little bit of knowledge, we have now created -- in our own minds -- the dangerous thing called "climate change." Take that, Aristotle!

The evidence-free assertion of man-made "climate change" is easily disproven without resorting to a shred of Heisenbergian data. Carbon dioxide is not a pollutant (no matter what the man-made Environmental Protection Agency says) -- unless, that is, you subscribe to the Leftist Suicide Cult theory that mankind itself is a pollutant. If you do, then there's no help for you; seek psychiatric help. Further proof is provided by actual climate history, whose only constant state is one of continual change. In case you doubt that, pay a visit to any important art museum with a large landscape collection. Finally, look at the calendar, walk outside, note how the weather is pretty much exactly what you would expect in your region for this time of year and ask yourself: do I really believe we have only a few years to save the planet? Of course you don't. The planet is doing just fine.

But, but, but... what about the The Science? Don't 97 percent of scientists believe we're doomed if we don't act right now? Answer: no, they dont; and so what if they did? Just because Calvinists believe in predestination doesn't mean the rest of us are ticketed for Heaven and Hell from the moment we're born. Indeed, the "climate change" cult resembles nothing more than the ferocious certainty of Jehan Cauvin coupled with the punitive, jealous god of the Old Testament to scare the bejesus out of you:

By predestination we mean the eternal decree of God, by which he determined with himself whatever he wished to happen with regard to every man. All are not created on equal terms, but some are preordained to eternal life, others to eternal damnation; and, accordingly, as each has been created for one or other of these ends, we say that he has been predestinated to life or to death.

She's gotta have it.

The simplest way to defeat the "climate change" hysterics would have been to ignore them, but they are relentless little devils who won't stop until they are stopped. Unfortunately for the sane among us, they've enlisted those lovable scamps of the madcap Corporate Media to raise hysteria to such a fever pitch that a great many otherwise sensible people actually take a disturbed, saturnine child like Greta Thunberg seriously.

Alas, it's too late for benign neglect; as part of the Long March Through the Institutions, some of the Marcusian cadres have engaged in regulatory-agency capture, which allows them to indulge their quasi-religious lunacy with the full force of governments everywhere. So it's time to fight back, "by any means necessary" as the Left likes to say. If you don't want a goddamn self-driving electric car, if you don't fancy a protein diet of bugs, if you don't want to live as a prisoner in a "15-minute city," or dwell in a soulless high-rise apartment like a denizen of the Peoples Republic of China, then familiarize yourself with the facts:

So don't fall victim to Heisenberg or his uncertainty principle. Observe, read, and think for yourself. To help, you can find a sampling of some of our recent "climate change" articles here. And watch this space over the next two weeks for more. Since they won't stop, neither will we.

  1. Two of the biggest lies the Eco-Freaks spread is The Delicate Balance of Nature and the Fragile Earth their almost always using these two false ideas all the time

  2. Two key issues:
    1. Climate is a chaotic system. It is unstable and non-linear; small changes can have outsized effects and sudden reversals prevail.
    2. We must consider costs against the present value of highly uncertain future benefits, discounting the latter at appropriate (risky) rates.

    • Is there global warming?
o Well, coming off an ice age, some.
    • Is it man-made?
    o Some, not all.
    • What are our alternatives?
o In part, slow or stop it.
o In part, adapt to it.
o In all cases, admit we don’t know nearly enough.
o Understand with chaotic systems, we are just as likely to exacerbate as to ameliorate. E.g. Are we trapping heat or raising the albedo?!
    • What are the costs and benefits? This kills the statists. No price is too high as they grasp for power.
o Full accounting of current costs, not just direct, but indirect and knock-on effects.
o PLUS deleterious social and psychological effects of ever-growing government intrusion. This is destructive but regrettably diffuse and unrecognized.
o Appropriately high discount rates for highly uncertain future benefits.
o As the math soon makes it clear, it’s far better to increase our wealth, and then fix any adverse results in future, rather than impoverish ourselves AND THE FUTURE, today.
o Recognize the current poor in the world deserve to live better, and not be kept in squalor for the mere chance at improving the future

  3. Only people who engage in magical thinking can believe that mankind can control the temperature of the earth. That same kind of mindset believes that a man can transform himself into a woman and vice versa. The former canard is the most economically destructive idea currently plaguing Western man and the latter is the most personally destructive. These canards could not have any traction on the population except for the fact of the Marxist capture of the academe some half century ago.

  4. The argument of measurement from the nadir applies to hurricane activity, too. Commonly we are told of the rise and rise of hurricane activity over the past 50 years - which seems like a long time for measurements. But the records we have go back to the 1850s and, from them, we learn that the 1970s were the absolute nadir of hurricane activity. We also learn that the 1940s were the apex of hurricane activity over the past 170 years; that if we measured today from the 1940s we would show a decline in hurricane activity.

Furthermore, using hurricane activity as a gross measure of atmospheric energy, we then see a decline in atmospheric energy (e.g. temperature) from the 1940s to the 1970s - that is, "global cooling". Measuring from the 1970s to day shows an increase in atmospheric energy, and we call it "global warming". Funny how the climate panics so nicely track this.

  5. ONE VERY INTERESTING part of Mr. Carlin's monologue was his mention of a VIRUS and the attack on IMMUNE SYSTEMS! Does THAT sound FAMILIAR????
