Confronting the handmaidens of the state.

Recently I appeared as a guest on the Drew Pinsky podcast, and a spirited, wide-ranging and thoroughly enjoyable conversation followed. The personable Dr. Drew has been a fixture in the popular media for more than 40 years, hosting the nationally syndicated radio show Loveline from 1984 to 2016, appearing on MTV, and working often with former Loveline co-host Adam Carolla. Pinsky is a board-certified physician in internal and addiction medicine, maintaining a private practice in Pasadena and serving as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Keck USC School of Medicine.

Michael Walsh is a journalist, author, pianist, and screenwriter. He was for 16 years the music critic and a foreign correspondent for Time Magazine. His works include the novels As Time Goes By, And All the Saints, and the bestselling “Devlin” series of NSA thrillers; as well as the nonfiction bestseller, The Devil’s Pleasure Palace and its sequel, The Fiery Angel. His new book of military history, A Rage to Conquer, was published in late January. He divides his time between rural New England and even more rural Ireland.
